Butterlamp’s Pilgrimage Trip
The journey to sacred sites is a living act of taking refuge in the Three Jewels – a way of directly accessing and deepening one’s connection, devotion and commitment to the Buddha, his teachings (Dharma) and the community aspiring for awakening (Sangha). At least four benefits can be attributed to the practice of pilgrimage:
1) Connecting with the inspiration and legacy of the Buddha and the possibility of one’s own awakening,
2) Purifying karmic imprints,
3) Cultivating merit or virtues, and
4) Establishing living networks with others pilgrims. In this pilgrimage trip, we also light butter lamps in each sacred places, do aspiration prayers, study Dharma along the way.
Mani Retreat
This is to happen there once each year – only once each year! MANI RETREAT or RECITATION OF 100 MILLION OM MANI PADME HUNG has been held for thousands of years among Buddhists. It is well known to benefit all beings in many ways. The goals are specific, unique & the greatness of this retreat knows no boundaries.
OM MANI PADME HUNG is the heart mantra of Chenrezig/Avalokiteshvara (Guan Yin) Buddha of compassion which is considered the essence of 84000 Buddhist teachings. Through the power of mantra and individual efforts, one will begin to uncover the extraordinary qualities of Chenrezig.
It is said that the benefits of reciting even one OM MANI PADME HUNG cannot be imagined.
The Buddha said, “I can measure every small particle on earth precisely. The virtue and benefits of reciting OM MANI PADME HUNG even though only once is too broad to be measured”.
Upcoming Schedule
SAVING LIFE
In the Buddhist tradition, saving life is the practice of saving those animals from death, such as animals that are about to be killed for human consumption, and is also a means of protection from fear.
This not only benefits the animals, but also those who perform the act of saving life. It brings spiritual benefits (good karma), helps the development of kindness and compassion, and can also help in removing life obstacles caused by illness.
