The Buddha returned to earth!!!
It was on this day that Shakyamuni Buddha descended from Trayastrimsa Heaven after teaching the Dharma for three months there to repay his mother’s kindness by liberating her from Samsara and to help the other gods. When the Buddha finished teach the Dharma and was about to come back down to earth, the Gods manifested three ladders which were 80,000 yojanas each & stretched from earth to Trayastrimsa heaven. The Buddha descended by walking on the middle staircase, while the Devas followed him from the right and left steps while covering the Buddha as a sign of respect.
This is considered to be one of the Buddha’s great deeds of the eight great deeds.
