The 2024 Butter Lamps in Holy Places program has concluded!
Over 10,000 butter lamps were lit and offered at 10 sacred sites.
12 robes were offered at Mahabodhi—the place where the Buddha attained perfect enlightenment.
2 robes were offered at Kushinagar—the site of the Buddha’s passing.
4 baskets of food were offered at Mahabodhi.
Beautiful, fragrant flowers were placed at the foot of the Bodhi tree—where the Buddha achieved perfect enlightenment 2,600 years ago.
Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche and 27 other pilgrimage participants not only made offerings to please the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas but also visited sacred sites such as Rajghir, Nalanda, Mahakala Cave, Kushinagar, Sarnath, Lumbini, and Shravasti. In addition to making offerings, aspiration prayers were recited, and the teachings of the eight short sutras were completed without any obstacles.
Thank you to all sponsors. May the light of the lamps illuminate your aspirations! May all your virtuous aspirations be fulfilled without obstacles.
We look forward to seeing you again at the 9th Butter Lamp Program in 2025! ✨
